At Sonora Regional Imagingl Center, we offer the 64-slice configuration of Siemens award-winning SOMATOM Sensation. We are the only medical center in Tuolumne and Calaveras counties to provide 64-slice CT.

Multi-slice CT is one of the most important developments in diagnostic imaging since it enables the technologist to obtain images in a single breath hold, virtually eliminating motion artifacts and providing excellent diagnostic information.

Our SOMATOM Sensation CT scanner allows the routine use of high performance multi-slice CT. It provides extended coverage of anatomical areas while producing images with higher detail, which is key in clinical applications such as early tumor detection. In addition, it also features clinical applications targeted at the diagnosis of specific regions of interest.

The following provides a brief overview of those clinical applications:

Highly detailed imaging with very short breath hold requirement using Multi-slice CT. Misregistration due to motion is virtually eliminated. This is especially important in trauma and pediatric examinations.

Vasculature evaluation of the head, neck, thorax, abdomen, pelvis and extremities using CT Angiography. This provides an accurate picture of blood flow through the vessels in a fast, minimally invasive way.

Evaluation of osteopathic and traumatic alterations of bone surface using 3D imaging. The clear view of the bone structure in 3D allows a fast and accurate assessment of the alterations that have taken place.

Evaluation of ischemic stroke injuries with the help of Perfusion CT. It aids in the decision for best treatment to salvage injured brain tissue. Perfusion CT allows physicians to meet the critical time window for effective treatment by providing results in less than 10 minutes. CT can assist you in:

  • Detecting strokes, head injurious, herniated discs and abscesses
  • Locating fractures
  • Determining the extent of bone and soft tissue damage in trauma patients
  • Diagnosing changes in various organs
  • Examination of the heart and of the coronary vessels
  • Early diagnosis of lung and intestinal cancer
