Sonora Regional Medical Center is proud to offer the only Open Bore MRI system in the Sierra Foothills. Siemens’ MAGNETOM Espree provides the high-field power of 1.5T for the superior image quality physicians demand.
Taking its inspiration from the blueprint of a CT scanner , the MAGNETOM Espree is the first open-bore MRI that provides true comfort and quality.
The opening of the Espree, more than 27 inches in diameter, provides a full foot of space above the patient’s head — much more than traditional MRI scanners or even the best open MRI scanners. And its extremely short bore enables many exams to be performed with the patient’s head completely outside the magnet bore.

Obese patients find the extra space comfortable. The Espree's table is now capable of handling 550 lbs. Drawing on Siemens’ innovative Tim™ (Total imaging matrix) technology, the Espree delivers high quality whole-body images while reducing exam times.
From a technology perspective, doctors find the Espree’s powerful “high-field” magnet impressive. At 1.5 Tesla, the magnet provides the strength needed to obtain quality diagnostic images. The ultrashort MR system provides a Field of View up to 205 cm.
