Sonora Regional Imaging Center offers physicians state-of-the-art technology for detecting breast cancer and other breast abnormalities. The Imaging Center has a dedicated digital mammography center designed to offer patients the ultimate in care and comfort while providing doctors with the tools they need to be successful.

Sonora Regional Imaging Center features the MAMMOMAT NovationDR, by Siemens. It provides the advantages of an all-in-one digital unit for the entire digital mammography work-up, which includes:

  • Digital mammography screening and diagnostics
  • Digital and geometrical magnification
  • Digital high resolution spot imaging
  • Digital specimen radiography
  • Digital galactography
  • Large detector format with 24 x 29 cm2

MAMMOMAT NovationDR utilizes the latest full-field detector technology based on amorphous selenium (a-Se). The new flat detector uses a photo-conductor to absorb the X-rays and directly generate the electrical signal without any inter-mediate steps. This direct-to-digital technology yields the optimal image quality. Other benefits include:

  • High X-ray absorption in low energy range
  • High DQE (Detective Quantum Efficiency) and MTF (Modulation Transfer Function )
  • Excellent spatial resolution with 7.1 lp/mm at 70 µm pixel size
  • Dynamic range up to 9 cm
  • Dual target X-ray tube: Mo/Mo, Mo/Rh, W/Rh for dose reduction

Doctors also have access to OpView, an advanced image post-processing software

OpView is specially designed for digital mammography to produce superior image quality. OpView offers clear images with excellent visibility of breast borders, structures in dense areas and microcalcifications.
